These terms govern your use of the Hindsight app and website (hindsightapp.co.uk). By using Hindsight, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.
What Hindsight is
Hindsight is a private space where a circle of family or close friends answers questions together and keeps the answers as a shared archive. It is provided by Hindsight ("we", "us"), operated from the United Kingdom.
Your account
- You can try Hindsight without an account. To keep your answers across devices, you'll need to sign up with email, Apple or Google.
- You must be at least 13 years old to use Hindsight. If you're under 18, you should have a parent or guardian's permission.
- You're responsible for keeping access to your account secure.
Your content
- Everything you write, record or film in Hindsight remains yours. We claim no ownership of your memories.
- You grant us the limited licence needed to store your content and show it to the members of your circle — that's it. We never use your content for advertising, and we never make it public.
- You're responsible for what you share. Don't post content that is unlawful, harassing, or that you don't have the right to share.
- You can export all of your content free at any time, and delete your account and all of your content from Settings. Deletion is immediate and permanent.
Circles
Answers are visible to the members of the circle they were shared with (and, for addressed time capsules, only the recipient). Invite people you trust — once someone has seen an answer, we can't unsee it for them. If you delete your account, circles you created are handed to another member so the circle's memories aren't lost.
Subscriptions & payment
- Hindsight's core features are free. Hindsight Plus is an optional subscription: £39.99/year or £7.99/month, or a one-time lifetime purchase of £129.99.
- The annual plan includes a 14-day free trial. You won't be charged if you cancel before the trial ends.
- Purchases are made through the App Store and are subject to Apple's payment terms. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel your subscription in your App Store account settings.
- Refunds are handled by Apple under their standard policies.
- Prices may change; we'll give you notice before any change affects an active subscription.
Acceptable use
Don't misuse Hindsight — including attempting to access other people's circles or content, reverse-engineering the service, sending spam through invitations, or using the app to harass others. We may suspend or terminate accounts that break these terms.
Our service
- We work hard to keep Hindsight running and your archive safe, but the service is provided "as is" — we can't guarantee it will always be uninterrupted or error-free.
- We recommend using the free export feature for anything irreplaceable.
- To the maximum extent permitted by law, our liability to you is limited to the amount you've paid us in the 12 months before a claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under UK law.
Ending or changing the service
You can stop using Hindsight at any time. If we ever discontinue the service, we'll give you reasonable notice and time to export your archive. We may update these terms from time to time; if the changes are significant, we'll tell you in the app before they take effect.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes will be handled by the courts of England and Wales. If you're a consumer, you keep any rights your local law gives you.
